João Vicente carries out the scenic research The Lighthouse Island, whose theme is the gradual loss of movements caused by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the impacts on everyday life, and the questions brought up both on the human condition and on his thinking as an artist/performer. João was diagnosed with this rare neurodegenerative disease in 2020 and now lives on an island and he communicates from this territory. There, facing the movement of the sea, there is a lighthouse, and it is from this place that he signals to the world that he is still alive and needs help.
