This essay is a set of images that translate a double presence, in space and time: mine, a Brazilian anthropologist dedicated to researching archives in Haiti in the 2000s, and that of Alfred Métraux (1902-1963), a French-Swiss anthropologist who carried out his ethnographic research in the first half of the last century. These images, produced by me in a research context that had Métraux as an interlocutor, reveal the backstage of the production of my doctoral research and the processes that Métraux's own research in Haiti went through.
