Feminism. Modernity. Post-modernity.Abstract
This article faces the trajectory of fe-
minism in the context of the tense relation between
modernity and postmodernity. We present, inicially,
the traces of contemporaneous feminism as a plu-
ral, theoretical and social movement, articulated to
other dimensions of human sociability, such as race
and class. We try to demonstrate how feminist the-
ory, inspired by Enlightenment, allowed the cons-
truction of a feminist epistemology and a critical
feminist theory. Then, we point the limits and pos-
sibilities of modernity and postmodernity, focalizing
the impasses of postmodernity regarding the epis-
temological dimension of feminist theory. The ob-
jective of the article is to show that, although some
feminist theorists believe in the alliance between fe-
minism and postmodernism, others keep on defen-
ding modern analytical categories as fundamental to
strengthen feminisms.
