Abstract

This article consists in a reflection about the use of Verbal History concerning the education research. The author starts from some questioning about the nowadays situation of the public school of first and second grades, in the city of São Paulo, in order to jusitify the appeal of "return to the past" by means of collecting verbal statements, as a possibility to know significant aspects to understand and overcome the present educational-cultural problems.
