Contemporary migration and education

Abstract

The immigration theme reminds us that this is a process of rupture that characterizes the migrant because it is marked by the place of origin. Not only does the reception in the chosen country seem to depend on this mark, but also how the person keeps some unity of identity, constantly imagining, in the new space, the social relations left behind. To give sense to the immigration, the migrant recalls what made her or him migrate, and in general the reason lies in the country of origin. Our research interest is to understand the integration of immigrants in the school thinking about it as a place that often receives the children of immigrants and presents them to the culture and the way of life of the host society; the emergence of this group in the school environment is one of the different aspects of recent immigration that needs to be studied and debated. The concepts of Sayad (2010), Elias (2000), Martine (2005) and others collaborate to explain the phenomenon of migration and education.
