Abstract

Faculdade de Educação of Universidade de São Paulo professor Maria Thereza Fraga Rocco, on interview, talks about the composition of students aplying for college and the most frequent mistakes done by those students on Portuguese. She emphasizes the importance of the means of communication in school and how different types of TV programs can be used by the teachers. Maria Thereza also speaks about her experience in production of the video series Reading trips that are a part of TV Escola's programming, a distance learning project developed by MEC, (or the Culture and Education Ministry) for elementary school teachers and students. This is, still, the disregard that the public school is subjected to and it reflects the need to value to teacher and the community with priority factors in order to make quality of teaching resurface and to put an end to the anachronism that our schools are in.
