The article discusses the perspectives that are presented to Education for the Media in the globalized world. It stresses the need to be aware of the increasing socioeconomic inequalities and in the access to the information and to the knowledge that technology promets, making the Southern Hemisphere populations even more excluded. It points out the importance for Education for the Media to be committed to the democratization of the access to knowledge production and circulation, aiming at the construction of a productive, united and coherent society; and at the formation of local and global citizenship.
