The Independent Media Center (IMC), present in the fi ve continents and in 57 countries, including Brazil, is the major reference of the citizen journalism, because it has increased the common individuals’ participation as producers and consumers of news. Based on its auto defi nition, evolution, philosophy ofaction, operacionalización and its editorial politics, the central objective of this work is to analyze the external processes of the
central site IMC. This analysis is made in order to verify the equilibrium between its theoretical proposition and its technical
operacionalización.
