The role of information and knowledge for people and organizations can be analyzed in at least two dimensions - philosophical and technological - and is part of social transformations and playing a central role in society. For science, both information and knowledge must have their origins documented, and the flow of scientific information is determined by the patterns adopted and in the form of their mediation and communication. In the area of History of Science (HC), the document is one of the main resources for the development of research, including the processes that allow access to the document in the collections / repositories, as well as the classifications, terminologies and forms of communication and dissemination of these content. The historiographic studies in the area of Information Science (CI) on "document and information" refer to the projects promoted by Paul Otlet and Henry La Fontaine, who consolidated bibliographies, repertoires and theories and processes for the organization and access to the documentary mass, and are considered as one of the roots of CI. For the HC area, the studies and projects organized by George Sarton identify him as one of the main articulators for the institutionalization of the area and responsible for the creation of Isis magazine and the Bibliographie Analytique des Publications Relatives à l'Histoire de la Science, entre other types of documents. During the research conducted under the Graduate Program in History of Science of PUC / SP, using multiple sources, we identified factors of possible interrelations between these two areas that have interdisciplinary characteristics.
