After the death of William Shakespeare in 1616 and the fire of his theater – The Globe, the performances of his plays declined. However, with the opening of the Drury Lane (the theater that inherited the rights of his plays), a revival took place and a new generation of artistic directors, actors, actresses, choreographers, conductors and composers engaged in its production.
We chose one of his comedies – As You Like It – and the song “Blow, blow thou winter winde”, composed by Thomas Augustine Arne, with a refrain by William Linley, to narrate and explain this momentum.
