International antitrust policies in the international context: between cooperation and sovereignty

The objective of this paper is to analyze the possibility of integration between national antitrust policies and the promotion of antitrust at the international level. It is argued that regulatory convergence and international agreements can act as a useful tool to promote a more effective antitrust and reconcile national sovereignty with international cooperation for more effective antitrust policies. To this end, we analyze the main advantages and difficulties in international cooperation for antitrust, as well as the decision-making process of each nation in the elaboration of these policies. Thus, we can build a methodology that allows these agreements to develop. As a conclusion, it is understood that this integration is best developed within the economic blocs, by regional agreements.
