Abstract

The authors studied the lateral overlapping mattress suture technique and successfully, performed the surgical repair in thirteen cases of umbilical hernia in the bovine. They discussed several operative techniques. This technique was reported for the first time by Sapiejko and Picolli in 1900. The authors examined the kinds of suture material used and employed “Vetafil“ a synthetic non absorbable suture material manufactured in Germany by the Bengen and Co. (Hannover). Finally, detailed data of thirteen cases using this technique were described.
