This article makes a reflection on the etimology of terms such as Occupational Therapy, Praxistherapyanó Praxiology. The author considers the term Occupational Therapy as being a technical term, once it defines a practice by its therapeutic resources. This term is thought to be inadequate because it does not relate to what the professionals have been theorizing and performing in clinicai practice. The author suggests terms such as Praxistherapy and Praxiology as being correspondente to what professionals have been investigating both scientifically and technically. The author also suggests that professionals should seek for an identity which is related not to the profession's resources (methods and techniques) but to the process of identifying the objectand subyecf of its own body of knowledge.
