Abstract

As in a reverse engineering, I try to reconstruct the design of the mechanism of Jean-Luc Godard’s Passion (1982). The analysis proceeds by decomposing the main axes of the film: time, painting, and politics. I aim here to demonstrate how different themes, when combined, can make the movie both an aesthetic and a political happening.
