Abstract

This article seeks to trace an overall history of ecomuseums - especially in France - and to detect its roots in folkloristic as well as regional ethnography movements, trom the end of the 19th-century until now. Aspects usually underrated are emphasized, as the role of collections and cultural heritage and the museographic patterns.
