Abstract

The Parque Estadual de Ibitipoca (PEIB) is located in the southeast of Minas Gerais (21º40'-21º44'S, 43º52'-43º55'W) and comprises an expanse of campos rupestres penetrated by some forested areas. A total of 23 species distributed in nine genera of Cyperaceae and one species of Juncaceae were found in the park. The taxa observed occur in open areas with sandy to rocky soils and in seasonally flooded areas in addition to the forest understory. Lagenocarpus rigidus is the most common species within the park, forming dense clusters in areas of campo rupestre with moist, sandy soil. Bulbostylis carajana and B. distichoides are registered for the first time in the Southeast of Brazil, reinforcing the need for local floristic studies to better understand species distribution.
