The paper examines how, during the firsts years after the democratic recovery in Argentina, it became necessary, from the perspective of a certain group of intellectuals, to arrange a new public language capable of get rid of the rhetorical and ideological excess of the Sixties and the Seventies. We confront those linguistic operations with Rodolfo Fogwill`s work during the same years. We examine principally the journalistic texts written between 1984 and 1986, reading there a series of critical speech acts, which revitalize certain tone of the Seventies, which disobeys –in a discursive level- the “tolerant” and “reasonable” pact the new democratic language was demanding.
