There is a distinctive mark in contemporary chronicle that causes a break in the history of genre. Certain chroniclers who value listening affirm themselves before culture by what they have heard. This position takes on particular importance in María Moreno and Pedro Lemebel who discuss the legitimacy of reading as a privileged tool for knowledge. The prioritization of the auditory over the visual configures an anti-academic knowledge as the subjective representation, "I listen", materializes deviations from the literate norm, when contesting the hegemony of the written word.
