Tomás Harris e a memória fraturada da América

Escrito durante a ditadura de Augusto Pinochet, Cipango [1992] põe em cena a aliança entre as escrituras oficiais e os interesses políticos da cidade letrada. Com efeito, em seu magnífico conjunto de poemas, Harris revisa não precisamente a história mas como e sob que condições de poder se escreveu o discurso sobre a fundação do Novo Mundo, detectando na violência e na tortura um vínculo entre a conquista das Índias e o recente governo militar chileno. Assim, através dos silêncios e da sistemática interrupção do verso, Harris “utiliza” o conjunto de poemas como um instrumento para desvelar as fraturas do discurso histórico.
