Playing a part?: masculinities and same sex desire on men that have sex with other men's lives. (Pouso Alegre city, south of Minas Gerais State)

Abstract

The present article aims to discuss the manners which men that have sex with other men deal with and evaluate different masculinities, experience their sexualities and formulate knowledge on themselves and other men wandering how their life experiences are attached to the urban life experience, considering it in a small Minas Gerais State town in which live about 120 thousand inhabitants. This article analyses life histories of men from 20 years old to 50 years old discussing the straight-based standardizing idea of masculinity that has been present on the social relationships established amongst men that have sex with other men.
