Abstract

The present work aims at considering how the rules of the speech of the religious movement Catholic Charismatic Renewal shape the followers identity and impose a new standard of living on them . In addition to the observation of the rituals and the shows presented on the Canção Nova TV, both aimed at understanding the charismatic speech, research on the charismatic literature was also done. Special attention was given to the research originated in the Canção Nova Community where the rules are expressed more clearly, since only those who are really involved in the movement, or those who deeply want to join it, will manage to embody such rules. Thus, people desiring to approach the movement must be aware of the rules they will have to follow and the restrictions they will be subjected to, in order not to feel intimidated when joining the movement.
