Abstract

This paper, using the methodological tools of oral history, presents stories and perceptions of eleven women migrated from Guayaquil (Ecuador) to Genoa and from their relatives in their home country. Through the narration of personal experiences it is shaped the context in which the migration from Ecuador to Italy occurs, from the moment of departure to the possible comeback or the definitive settlement in the new country.

  • Chiara Pagnotta, Università de Trieste
    Professor contratado de História e Instituições da América Latina na Università de Trieste, doutora e pesquisadora  em História, com especialização em História Contemporânea pela Universidade de Gênova (2007). Atualmente é docente contratada pela Universidade de Trieste e membro da comissão cientifica da Associação Internacional Areia, que tem como objetivo promover e sustentar, em nível nacional e internacional, a AREIA, arquivo audiovisual das imigrações entre Europa e América Latina. Seus interesses de pesquisa são: a história latino-americana,  a história social, as imigrações e suas dinâmicas sociais, os processos de criação e de transformação das identidades étnicas nacionais e em especial na América Latina.
