The objective of this research is to study the conflictual relationships between the Police and population (immigrants and poor Brasilians) in the context of São Carlos city, between 1888 and 1914. It was achieved through the analysis of police inquests, criminal trial records and Police correspondence (between the delegates and the police chief),² which contains information about this city in this period.Downloads
