New life styles and ways of living in Natal- RN

Abstract

The residential space is a very dynamic space. In current Brazil, cultural and social changes, particularly speeded up in Northeast's main cities, have made relevant the new housing's spatial configuration analysis, resulting from the real estate market's production. This paper presents the results of an academic research about "News life styles and ways of living in Natal". The social-space description and the analysis were made according to bibliographical state of arts, gathering of documental folders in real estate private agencies and local newspapers cuts, as well as field researches with visits to residential exemplars, which have been photographed. The changes in the living space configurations are apparent: the decrease of the insides spaces and super valorization of the outside spaces, the disappearance of the complete kitchen and the employee's areas, the constant use of technological devices, the fusion of many social spaces, currently uses of rooms as working and studying places as well as the appearance of special tasting place, are the architectural project's new tendencies. In the course of this transformation, the home looses a little of its sense of family communion space, in accordance with the family's modifications and the current social relations.
