This article presents some possibilities of analysing the relationship betweencinema and history by using the results of a previous analysis of some Brazilian movies thatpresent the military regime period (1964-1985) and emphasize the armed struggleconflicts. Assuming that the movie reveals itself as an operator of social memory, I tryto show the mechanisms of construction of cinematographic narrative which intend toelaborate the production of senses on the subject in question, and find the clashof memories in this field. As a representation of a social imaginary, the historicalmovie comprehension demands the exposure of the extra-filmic aspects that influenceits production of meaning.Downloads
