Abstract

The objective of this article is to reconstitute the blacks´memory in the city of São Carlos do Pinhal (beggining of the XX century), soon after the slavery´s abolition, to describe the black´s life instead of the European immigrant´s life. The principal source of the investigation is the oral history, to explain the importance of the orality in themes on which that sources are rare. We interviewed a man 116 years old, who lived in the city of Rincão/SP, exlave of this region, who is a true testimony of this period, and also a woman 95 years old, who lives in the farm Pinhal in São Carlos/SP. Farther the oral sources,  were finded some documents, Farther, some documents vere found, such as monographies, newspapers, photos, farmer´s personal letters, where there are some historical fragments of free new´s and women´s lives.
