Abstract

The text considers the process of both rational organization and management of the jornalstic work carried out by the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper in the 1980s, when it appliet the so-called Folha Project. The case allows discussing influences from the Taylorist paradigm as well as the new models of work organization into the journalistic workplace, therefore suggesting points of intersection between diagnosis applied by the sociology of work to industrial production and the newspapers context. The intensification of control over work; the attempt to establish standardized and disciplined production processes, with strict rules on the writting, together with a certain devaluation of the traditional know-how hold by the journalist are some of the aspects taken into account in the paper.
