Abstract

According to the National Supply Company - Conab (2012) annual report, the farming of sugar cane in Brazil continues to expand the State of São Paulo accounts for 52% of the national production. The aim of this paper was to study the sugarcane expansion in the areas of EDRs Botucatu, Jaú amd Avaré, according to the "Environmental Protocol", and the models of the professional qualification offered. The methodology consited of a literature review. The hypothesis is aimed at changing policies for the "sugarcane industry" and for retraining the harvesters. The industry does note currently accomodate concretely to the needs of the workers. The evidence concluded that there was an absence of integrated planning to train and relocate these workers in the workplace; and these policies did not ensure that these work placements were delivered.
