The author discusses the importance of communications as a process that is mediated by culture and by each receptor’s reality, demonstrating that the receptor is not a mere reproducer of the information transmitted by the media, no matter which one it may be. She shows how communication takes place in a process of interaction in which circulating symbolic forms presupposes a common field of meanings. This increases the importance of those who are at the pole of message production, including the school, since it is responsible for maturing new generations intellectually and critically. From this prism, the author presents the articles in Comunicação & Educação, proposing a reading based on the concerns highlighted in the first part of the article.
