Abstract

This study aims to assess the challenges and perspectives of civil organizations in face of the changes driven by the tools offered on the Internet. The goal is to demonstrate how the initiative appropriates digital platforms to broaden participation spaces and fulfill their goals of action. Therefore, we accomplished a literature review covering issues related to civil society and its performance interface in digital networks, and an exploratory study with a specific organization, the Cidade Democrática. This analysis includes the evaluation of all the tools that the initiative uses: website, blog, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Catarse in order to understand how these instruments are articulated to fulfill its main objectives.
