Memorials are museological institutions dedicated to the collection, preservation and communication of historical memories and narratives. Spaces of articulation between subjectivity and knowledge involve several themes, objects, and social and historical contexts. In this text, we make some reflexions about the characteristics of memorials in general, and then we discuss on the memorial institutions devoted to the rescue of memories about historical periods and episodes of extreme violence and systematic human rights violations. In this context, we present the work developed by the Resistance Memorial of São Paulo as well as make some notes on how this institution provides a rich dialogue with the school field, establishing itself as an institution of interest to both teachers and students.
