The paper analyses the work The Boy and the World , an animation film directed by Alê Abreu; we discuss the production process of the film, its aesthetic and thematic aspects and its importance in the global recognition of Brazilian animation production. The paper reflects on the work, which was a hand-made production with simple techniques reaching high level of complexity and having as background the culture and history of Latin America. The aesthetic experience of the viewer is strong and unusual in the Brazilian cinema context.Downloads
