About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The journal Cadernos de Filosofia Alemã: Crítica e Modernidade, edited by the University of São Paulo, publishes articles, reviews, translations and interviews from national and international scholars in open access since 1996. Our thematic scope comprises not only German Philosophy, but, more generally, reflections concerning modernity, as understood from the theoretical framework provided by the heritage of critical philosophy.

Currently, we publish articles, reviews and interviews in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English and translations to Portuguese - in volumes released at least every six months and in special Dossiers. The texts can be submitted at any time in our website (in case of doubt, contact us sending a message to filosofiaalema@usp.br).

Peer Review Process (Double Blind Peer Review)

- Only papers that follow our publication guidelines for both the format and bibliographical references will be submitted for evaluation.

- If the articles follow the journal's formal guidelines (length, rules for citations and bibliographical references), they will be submitted to two referees appointed by the Editorial Board (translations and reviews: blind evaluation) and then submitted to the Editorial Board, which reserves the right to accept, reject or resubmit the author's original with suggested changes.

The journal relies on the collaboration of external evaluators outside its editorial team and publishing institution.

- Articles are sent to two reviewers (blind review), preserving the anonymity of the author.

- The evaluation must follow the journal's evaluation guidelines.

- The Editorial Board reserves the right to make any changes necessary to adapt the texts to the journal's editorial and graphic standards. In the event of any substantial changes to the conceptual scope of the texts, the authors will be asked for them.

Ethics and politic of plagiarism

By submitting the text to our periodic, the authors attest their authorship of all the material, except for quotations, that must be signalized with quotation marks and bibliographical reference.

We follow the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) directives for plagiarism prevention: https://publicationethics.org/ and have been using the tools SimilarityCheck (iThenticate) and Turnitin to verify approved submissions.

Conflict of interest policy

It consists in to interests (personal relationships, professional competition, institutional or financial) that could interfere with the evaluation of a text submitted to the journal. Authors, reviewers and editors are obliged to disclose such conflicts of interest as soon as they are first contacted (i.e. when a manuscript is submitted or when a review is accepted).

Disclosure of a conflict of interest or a possible complaint of omission will be followed by a review by exempt members of the journal's editorial committee to be appointed (according to each particular situation).

Policy and conditions for the use of artificial intelligence (AI)

The journal's editorial process does not involve the use of AI tools.

In view of the false content generated by AIs, the high risk of plagiarism and because we believe that the texts should be self-authored, without interventions, we discourage the use of AI in all texts submitted to our journal.

Authors who have used AI tools to write or edit a text submitted to the journal must be transparent about this in the submission process.

The editorial team will take steps to identify texts that used these tools without alerting the journal.
