Abstract

This study aims to present elements that can support a reflection on the relationship between open access and scholarly communication through the perception of researchers. Therefore, set up a clipping in Agricultural Sciences, which is an area of intense scientific research and that Brazil stands out globally in terms of publishing. This is a qualitative study, which used, as a methodological resource, the application of semi-structured interviews with a group of researchers in this field. The interviews were aimed to obtain data that could demonstrate the function of scientific publication in the careers of researchers and how elements associated with visibility, acknowledgment, acquiring prestigie, among others among other factors, relate to open access. It was observed that there is an increasing interest from researchers publish in journals already established and well evaluated. The publication in open access journals do not have a significant role on the choices of researchers. Even when researchers publish in open access, they are guided by the prestige and visibility of the jornal.
