Abstract

From the study of the Economic Memories of Domingos Vandelli, and especially, a case study of mineral charcoal for combustion purposes, present an end of the 18th century Portuguese, not that it respects the expeditions of the Kingdom in product that could reduce imports, and at the same time, in the analysis of the use of peat or charcoal as substitutes in times of great shortage of mineral coal of that period. Finally, the use of bitumen as a commercial by-product.
