Abstract

This paper intends to discuss declamation as a literary genre. For that, three main points served as a base for discussion: the definition of “declamation”, the origins of declamation and its contexts of performance according, mainly, to Philostratus and Seneca. The author intended to present an introduction to declamation in Brazilian Portuguese on the grounds that these texts are not widely known to Brazilian scholars.
