About the Journal

Focus and Scope

RAUSP readers are Management researchers and practitioners. The various positions that they hold mean that their education and knowledge can vary widely. For all articles to be understandable for all readers, it is important that their language and presentation be appropriate. Clarity and conciseness in the development of ideas are fundamental.

SPECIFIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ARTICLES

The articles may be submitted in Portuguese, English or Spanish and must comply with several requirements in terms of scope, objective, format, and lifecycle.

Scope
The articles may cover a broad range of Management topics and practices in different industrial sectors, geographic areas and functional specialties.

Objective
RAUSP readers must feel motivated to establish a discussion agenda within their organizations about the concepts presented in the journal. To this end, the articles should provide unprecedented insights, capable of enhancing the experience of managers and researchers, increasing knowledge of how organizations function, and improving understanding of how to deal with the growing challenges facing Management. The articles may fulfill this main objective in four different ways: by offering new Management ideas and approaches; by describing the best practices and administrative techniques used in different organizations; by analyzing innovative solutions for practical Management cases; and by communicating recent, cutting-edge research in the Management field.

Format
Articles for publication in RAUSP should be formatted in such a way as to enhance conceptualization, following a predetermined sequence: introduction of the conceptual objective; development of the thinking; and conclusions.

Lifecycle
The durability cycle of the articles should be long. Articles should not be of the quickly perishable type, devoid of future value. Their ideas and concepts should be sufficiently sound to withstand the passage of a fairly long time.

EVALUATIONThe articles submitted for appreciation will be evaluated by a body of ad hoc evaluators using the double-blind review system, in which the evaluators are not aware of who the author(s) is(are) and vice-versa at any time, throughout the entire process.

Journal History

In1946, the Documentation Service of the Public Service Department was transferred to the University of São Paulo (USP) as an integral part of the then newly established School of Economic and Management Sciences. At the same time, Revista de Administração Pública (Public Administration Review), this department’s official journal, started to be published by the Management Institute (which was part of the Management Science area of the School of Economic and Management Sciences) under the name Revista de Administração (Management Review). In March of 1947, USP published the first issue of Revista de Administração. In 1967, the publication was suspended as a result of the university reform and was only reactivated in 1977. Today, RAUSP is a quarterly publication of the Management Department of the School of Economics, Management and Accounting of the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP) and divulges articles by Brazilian and foreign authors, selected for their originality, quality and creativity by means of a double-blind review system.
