Abstract

Over a century after the start of the Modern Olympic Games, the Olympic Movement seeks a change of course in its search for the lost Olympic spirit. After undergoing deep changes that put the so-called "Olympic spirit" in jeopardy − mainly due to the rise of professionalism and business interests surrounding the greatest show on the planet − the current president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has summoned the international Olympic community to propose dialogue, inclusion and transformation in one of the most opaque institutions on the planet. The aim of this paper is to discuss the repositioning efforts undertaken by the Olympic Movement and the IOC strategic recommendations called 20 + 20 Agenda, as regards the future of the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games.
