Abstract

The interaction between Environmental Governance and the International Financial System in the contemporary agenda points to a new way of combining the topics language and economic behavior, theme deeply approached by Deirdre McCloskey in the 1980s. Economic and financial institutions now use to include the environment in their productive and financial agenda (e.g. offering credit to environmental projects or even making environmental requirements in their credit policies). The impact of the phenomena in the theory of law is felt along the replacement of traditional mechanisms of sanction (through administrative, civil and criminal liability) by alternative forms of regulation (such as restorative justice and smart regulation).
