Abstract

This paper seeks to analyze the Norín Catrimán and others (leaders, members and activist of the indigenous Mapuche people) vs. Chile case before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. In order to do so, the history of the Mapuche people in Chile will be first delineated to enter the case report and subsequently to weave aspects of the International Protection of indigenous peoples. The authors conclude that, after the judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, as well as with international efforts to establish legal landmarks for the International Protection of indigenous peoples, there were great advances in the matter, not only in the plan of Human Rights, but also in Labor Law.
