By means of ‘in vitro’ immersion tests for engorged female ticks (Drummond test), used for estimation of the efficacy of ixodicides, we purposed to measure the acaricide susceptibility of a Boophilus microplus strain from Jacarei, São Paulo State Brazil, including subject in the test some of the commonest ixodicides employed in the area, such as: 1) trichlorphon + coumaphos; 2) amitraz; 3) fenvalerate; 4) decametrin; 5) cypermethrin high cis + dichlorvos; 6) cypermethr in high cis. Of the six products, the highest activity in relation to the control percentage was performed by cypermethrin high cis + dichlorvos, becoming evident its high ovariostatic and antiembryogenic efficiency, as well as suggesting that it could be one of the most effective for the control of B.microplus in the area.
