Implementation of the Remédio do Mato, a Living Pharmacy program in the city of Paulínia-SP

In 2020, the city of Paulínia started the Living Pharmacy program “Remédio do Mato” in the municipal health network.
The objective of this project was to generate autonomy and self-care, decrease the number of consultations and promote the rational use of herbal medicines; sharing information about the safe use of plants and providing direct involvement and interaction with the community. The implementation of the program began with the choice of sixteen
species of plants and with meetings of the Basic Health Units (UBS) teams to expose the project to workers and users. The result achieved so far was the implementation of the program at the Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology, and at four UBS. The implementation of the Program showed great relevance as a space for health care, expansion,
and dissemination of knowledge about the importance of recovering the use of medicinal plants and their correct use for the treatment of various diseases, considering the paths of each territory and the contributions of all those involved, users and health teams building knowledge.
