Resumen

Historically the blood has always been a lovely liquid for humans, however, it was only after great scientific advances in hemotherapy that blood transfusion techniques have become a routine therapy in medical practice with great safety for donors and patients. However , despite the scientific evidence that the use of blood for therapeutic purposes requires a strict control before being transfused as this practice is not free from adverse reactions to patients (transfusion reactions), still arise, increasingly, supporters of the practice known as auto-hemotherapy. A widespread technique only in the global network of computers, the internet, so incipient and without scientific proof or validation. So, considering the need for a critical review of the practice and possible side effects associated with this technique a literature review to address the self-hemotherapy theme was proposed.
