Occupational therapy and digital inclusion of people with disabilities

This article presents a discussion about the necessity of digital inclusion in actual society and its benefits for disabled people. Occupational Therapists can contribute in order to increase social participation level of disabled people, giving them access to information technology through the use of several resources, such as assistive technology products. We also believe that Occupational Therapist is the professional responsible for advise other professionals and general population about the correct use of assistive technology products, and other aspects connected to the digital inclusion. For this study, interviews were realized with occupational therapists from important rehabilitation services in São Paulo and also acessibility studies in digital inclusion services localizated in East Area of São Paulo city.Downloads
