Analysis of the occupational performance of children and adolescents with sickle cell anemia

Sickle cell anemia (SCA) configures itself as one of the genetic illness of a major frequency in the world and in the Brazil and the disease has been described only in relation to its implications in the function and structure of the body. This research aimed to analyze the occupational performance of children/adolescents with a diagnostic of SCA, investigating the impact of the pathology in the condition of their health. The data were collected through the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) with thirteen children/adolescent, and were considered from analysis of the content. It was verified that the alterations obtained in the performance and in the satisfaction not only occur as a result of organic dysfunction.Downloads
