Occupational Therapy Intervention in a scalping case: experiences of a child admitted at Espaço Acolher

The scalping is typical accident of Northern Region of Brazil, that consists on scalp avulsion, may causing several consequences. The research objective was analyze the occupational therapist performance with a riverside child from Amazon assisted at Espaço Acolher. The child presented as mainly problems the need to help to perform the bath, difficulty to walk, self-image modifi ed, anxiety and psychomotor agitation. The interventions happened from March to June of 2013 and were based on the playful model, aiming to minimize those problematic identifi ed during the evaluations and observations. As the result of the interventions, there were verifi ed improvement on the psychoemotional and motor state of the client, resulting
on improvement of the performance of the daily life activities, anxiety minimization and psychomotor agitation during the removal from home and improvement of her self-image.
