Abstract

The evangelization of the ancient Kôngo kingdom led to a civil war that, from 1543 up to 1704, and disrupted this kingdom. Ñsîmba Vita – wellknown as Kimpa Vita – appears and leads the kimpasi with the purpose of restoring order. She did it, but for few times. She was arrested, judged and burned alive. The present work briefly addresses this period and re-emphasizes the importance of religion as resistance ways from the oppression. Also, it explain to u show the legacy of this ethical prophetess provided Proto-nationalism in Central West Africa: Kimbanguism and Tokoism.
