This article aims at studying the representations of State violence presented in Desolação and Passos perdidos, both novels by the Brazilian author Dyonélio Machado. In order to achieve this aim, it is necessary to understand the shaping of political consciousness in the characters, considering the authoritarian Getulio Vargas ́ government and the metonymical articulations verified in both works not only between history and literature but also involving aesthetical values, analysis of subjectivity and social process.Downloads
