Norma e obscenidade em Gregório de Matos, Glauco Mattoso e Hilda Hilst

Abstract

A Latin etymology, probably false, proposes that the term obscaenum means ob scaena, or “out of scene”, as something prohibited that may or may not be given in representation. In the text “Sade, mon prochain,” Klossowski recalled that the obscene only exists in a field of norms that endow it with meaning and sense. In this essay, I will discuss some poetic and political values particular to the obscene in the poetry ascribed to Gregório de Matos e Guerra (1633-1696), and in texts by two modern authors, Hilda Hilst and Glauco Mattoso.
