In 1927, two heinous crimes shocked Rio de Janeiro: the bodies of two boys were found in Jacarepaguá. The father of one of them identified Febrônio Índio do Brasil as the responsible. A mulatto and a homosexual, the suspect had published in the previous year As Revelações do Príncipe do Fogo (Revelations of the Fire Prince), written in the Ilha Grande penal colony. His supposed crimes were shrouded in an aura of mysticism, combined with irrepressible sexuality. At least four writers have taken interest for the case: Blaise Cendrars, Prudente de Morais Neto,Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, and Mário de Andrade.Downloads
